Mariela Garriga, born and raised in Havana, Cuba, has carved a path of determination and adaptability. A naturalized Italian and U.S. citizen, she fluently bridges multiple cultures and languages in Spanish, English, and Italian.
Mariela’s initial aspirations were anchored in the world of archaeology. However, early life challenges, including her parent’s separation and her mother’s health issues, thrust her into adult responsibilities, instilling a strong sense of resilience and flexibility.
At 13, Mariela’s unexpected entrance into the entertainment industry began with modeling and acting in TV commercials and music videos. The Cuban Television Ballet recognized her talent, but they challenged her rather than offering an immediate opportunity. Mariela underwent six rigorous months of training, proving her work ethic, talent, and worth before earning her place in the dance company, where she later worked as a professional dancer for three years.
However, the global economic crisis in 2008 prompted a significant shift. An opportunity to model in Milan presented itself, marking the beginning of Mariela’s international journey. It was a move accompanied by challenges, from cultural adjustments to learning Italian, yet Mariela’s resilience turned these challenges into stepping stones.
An audition for an Italian feature film in 2010 signaled a transition into acting. This unforeseen yet natural progression revealed an innate talent for character interpretation. Professional and intensive training in Milan and advanced studies in New York at renowned institutions like Terry Schreiber and The Actors Studio refined her raw talent into a professional skill set.
Mariela’s multifaceted career led her to roles across Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the United States. Alongside Tom Cruise, she’s part of the principal cast in ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Two,’ directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and she played a principal role in the Paramount+ series BOSÉ. She received the Best Actress Award for SOMBRA CITY at the Queen Palm International Film Festival 2019.
Beyond acting, Mariela has also made a mark as a producer and screenwriter. She wrote and produced the E.L.I Project, a conceptual short documentary spotlighting environmental crimes and endangered species. These ventures highlight a commitment to social issues, underlined by establishing her own production company aimed at storytelling that inspires and educates.
Mariela’s journey from the streets of Havana to international cinematic platforms is not just a career trajectory but a narrative of tenacity, versatility, and the unceasing pursuit of growth and excellence. C.A.A., I.P.D, represents her. Talent and Vision Entertainment, each new role and script marks Mariela’s continued evolution, showcasing a skill that is ever-growing and perpetually reaching new heights.
